“APC has been a reliable and dependable company to work with. Commonwealth had a very positive experience working with APC on the I-Drive Distribution Automation project that involved an independent review of the updated settings and field commissioning in 2016 and 2017. The I-Drive project has led to a continued partnership on utilizing APC for independent review of P&C design packages. Commonwealth is extremely pleased with the quality and efficiency of work performed by APC.”

Involved on development of relay logic for generator stand-by application. Normally close recloser will automatically be opened followed by auto start on the standby generator upon loss of utility source for predetermined time delay. Recloser will then be automatically close after utility source has come back and after synchronization is achieved followed by generator shut down.

Member of team developer of Distribution Automation simulator. The simulator becomes a valuable training tool that can be transported and used by any utility personnel. The DA simulator helped engineers, relay technicians, trouble-men, system control operators and linemen on understanding how the DA scheme works by simulating faults on different zones with a flip of a switch. The DA simulator definitely makes a big difference for utility employees to embrace the concept of Distribution Automation.

Designed concept of LTC control on Autotransformer. LTC is manually controlled by customer using I/O module, utilizing feeder relay to command a raise the Auto LTC controller prior to customer starting a very large motor. Automatic lowering the LTC is done via relay programming after receiving successful motor start signal.

Prepared Distribution Automation technical specification for a large commercial customer. Integrating and commissioning Substation and Distribution Automation. The SA and DA were for a brand new customer owned substation consists of 69-kV ring bus with two 33.6-MVA distribution transformers with three feeders feeding the complex. The DA control consists of 8 different zones which are controlled by Real Time Automation Controller (RTAC).

Integrated protective relays, various lockouts, and Substation Integrator to automatically pickup loads during loss of transformers by closing substation tie breaker immediately as long as no overloading condition to occur during load transfer. Two actual events on loss of a substation transformer after implementation and automation operated successfully and customers experienced momentary outage instead of typical long outage duration due to manual switching.
